Sources close to Martin Scorsese's Wolf of Wall Street say that the movie will not be delayed enough to drop it into 2014, but rather it will get a Christmas release.
The Los Angeles Times exclusively revealed that three sources told the newspaper the movie wouldn't be delayed to 2014, keeping it eligible for the current Oscars race.
However, because Wolf will be getting a Christmas release, Chris Pines' Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will be pushed back to 2014 as they are through the same studio. The reboot film will likely see a late January release now, which could hurt the movie.
Neither Paramount nor Red Granite offered comments on the release date for either of the two films.
It was originally reported that Wolf was being delayed as Scorsese was having trouble cutting the film down from an estimated run time of 180 minutes.
Sources said then that no one at the studio was sure that the movie could be cut down and edited in time for a 2013 release date.
The movie is based off of Jordan Belfort's memoir about Wall Street. Wolf of Wall Street stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey.
