The New York Times bestseller Heaven Is For Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip To Heaven and Back is written by Todd Burpo, whose son, Colton, after a near-death experience, was visited by loved ones in heaven. The book is now being told in a movie, Heaven Is For Real, starring Greg Kinnear and Kelly Reilly.
Moviefone reported Greg Kinnear plays Todd Burpo in a small-town and when Burpo’s son Colton starts describing events he can impossibly know, and stating that he met people in heaven, causes an uproar in their community. Do you believe, or do you not believe? Being a man of faith, Burpo struggles to come to an understanding.
The point that Cinemablend made about what we’ve seen so far in the trailer as being not much more than a possible made-for-TV movie is understandable. There are no aliens, outlandish characters, or even a good car chase but isn’t a movie based on real-life events, supposed to be real? It may come through as a sleeper but the popularity of the supernatural, spiritual and the overall good feeling may pull in a decent audience.
Heaven Is For Real is set to be released in Easter weekend on April 16, 2014.
