The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has taken over the box office, making over $307.7 at the global box office. $18 million of that total came from IMAX screenings worldwide. Catching Fire opened on 347 IMAX screens in North America.

Deadline reported that Catching Fire had the best three-day domestic opening for November in IMAX history. The young adult drama beat the previous record set by Sony’s Skyfall in November 2012.

The Hunger Games sequel also led IMAX to its second best overall weekend ever with total worldwide reaching $25.7 million.

For the weekend, eight of the top 10 U.S. runs of the film were IMAX engagements, The Hollywood Reporter added.

Portions of Catching Fire was filmed using IMAX cameras. Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and senior executive vp IMAX Corp, was excited that fans chose to see the film in IMAX. “We're excited that fans are seeking out the IMAX format in record numbers as the ideal way to experience The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," said Foster.

Catching Fire made over $300 million worldwide at the box office.
