The rumors and speculation about the release of the new Martin Scorsese film can finally be put to rest. During the past month, there had been rumors going around that the film was not going to be completed on time and thus would not be released in 2013. The good news is that the film will be released this year; the bad news is that we will have to wait an extra amount of time before seeing Scorsese’s new film.

The rumors that this film would not be released this year were sparked due to the film not
participating in any of the major fall film festivals. Cinema Blend reported that the first serious cause for concern came in late September when a cut version of the film was over three hours long and potentially was going to have a NC-17 rating. Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker, editor of the film have spent the past month working hard on the film: making cuts and getting the film ready for release. IGN also reports that the film will be a late contender for the 2014 Academy Awards. The studio is expected to be making an announcement in the next few days regarding the official status of the film.

The Wolf of Wall Street is based on a true-story from the memoir of Jordan Belfort. The film tells the story of Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) as a stockbroker who made millions of dollars in New York during the 90s. It is all going well for him until the federal government begins investigating about the possibility of crime and corruption. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Bernthal, Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler and more.
