Lightning struck twice as Thor: the Dark World reclaimed the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend after making $38.5 million on its second weekend in theatres. This adds to the very strong $86.1 million that the film made last weekend when it opened nationwide.

The newest Marvel film, starring Chris Hemsworth as the Norse god Thor, stole the number one spot again despite falling 55% in sales from last weekend to this weekend, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film, which co-stars Natalie Portman as Thor’s mortal love interest and Tom Hiddleston as Thor’s mischievous younger brother Loki, has made about $150 million in the US since last weekend.

Overseas, Thor 2 has made a whopping $332.8 million, which, added to the US gross, comes out to be $479.8 million since the film’s opening.

This weekend’s No. 2 spot at the box office went to The Best Man Holiday, which beat all expectations and fell behind Thor 2 by only $8 million. The film, a sequel to 1999’s The Best Man features a star-studded cast, including Taye Diggs and Terrance Howard among others.

The Best Man Holiday, which reportedly cost about $17 million to make, grossed $30.8 million at the box office this weekend. Not bad when up against the god of thunder himself.

Coming in at No. 3 this week with $8.9 million was buddy comedy Last Vegas, which stars Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, and Kevin Kline, reports the New York Daily News.

The No. 4 spot was taken by the animated Thanksgiving movie Free Birds, which made $8.3 million.

Rounding out the top five at $7.7 million was Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.
