Thor: The Dark World is the sequel to the hugely successful film Thor, which premiered in 2011. The film’s star Chris Hemsowrth and Natalie Portman, and they had an amazing opening weekend box office.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Thor: The Dark World debuted this weekend with an impressive $86.1 million from 3,481 theaters. It was number 1 at the box office this weekend with its next highest competitor being Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa”. These figures are almost a third higher than those of the first Thor film. This makes them very impressive since the first film was considered to be quite successful. The film’s international numbers are set to pass those of the first film within a week or two. With all of this success, will there be a Thor 3? Well, it appears so. The director of the film states that we will get answers to questions left over after Thor: The Dark World in Thor 3, MTV reports.
