A video that is part of the promotion for X-Men: Days of Future Past surfaced on Monday and suggests that Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender, was partly responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy 50 years ago.

The one-minute video explains that Magneto was arrested for allegedly using his powers to redirect one of Lee Harvey Oswald’s bullets to ensure that it hit Kennedy. There is almost no evidence, other than an image of him on the infamous grassy knoll. It can’t be proven that he actually bent the bullet, since there’s no physical evidence.

Still, Magneto was locked away. Protesters are seen in the video asking for Magneto’s release and an article on TheBentBullet.com suggests that he may not be guilty. According to HitFix, the site suggests that Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) may have disguised herself and played apart in Kennedy’s death.

HitFix sat down with X-Men: First Class director a couple of years ago, when he was still planning on directing a sequel himself. At the time, he suggested that Magneto would have been the real JFK assassin, so it looks like director Bryan Singer has figured a way to include that in the film we will ultimately see.

Of course, we won’t really know how long Magneto stayed in prison for JFK’s murder or what role it has in the film until May 25, 2014, when Days of Future Past opens.
