Ang Lee has faced some questions from reporters after The Hollywood Reporter's "Animals Were Harmed" article was published.

According to THR, Lee said that the whole incident with the tiger "was an accident." He added, "The crew worked hard to rescue the tiger and then showed him a lot of car, giving him five-star treatment."

In another interview, the Life of Pi director said, "we gave a lot of care to the tiger, as much as we possibly could.

It was revealed in an email that American Humane Association monitor Gina Johnson that the tiger had nearly drowned while filming a scene.

Johnson had written, "Last week we almost f---ing killed King in the water tank. This one take with him went really bad and he got lost trying to swim to the side. Damn near drowned."

She also added that she had "downplayed the f--- out of" the accident. The AHA monitor has since left her job.
