Deryck Whibley, lead singer of the punk/pop band Sum 41, divorced from Avril Lavigne in 2009 but it turns out that Whibley waited until just a few days ago to drop Lavigne's last name.
According to E Online!, Whibley filed a petition to legally drop his ex-wife’s last name. Whibley had adopted Lavigne's name as one of his middle names after they got married.
The duo married back in 2006.
Fox News added that legally Whibley went by the name Deryck Jason Lavigne Whibley.
Lavigne is now married to Nickelback’s lead singer, Chad Kroeger in July. Lavigne wore a black dress to the ceremony. Kroeger and Lavigne met while working on Lavigne's latest album.
Sum 41 has not been heard from in a while, but the band is set to start working on a new album.
