Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have signed on for another project together, agreeing to produce Warner Bros. adaptation of Ed Brubaker's DC Entertainment/Vertigo comic Sleeper. One of the members of the film’s writing team is Shield creator Shawn Ryan.
The project has undergone a major chance, as it was once planned as a Tom Cruise film, with Oz The Great And Powerful’s Sam Raimi and Josh Donen producing. Now, Damon and Affleck will produce, along with Jennifer Todd, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Ryan is co-writing the script with David Wiener, whose credits include AMC’s The Killing.
Sleeper was first published from 2003 to 2005, reports HitFix. The plot focuses on a secret agent who lands in a government organization after he receives alien technology that makes him unable to feel pain.
Damon and Affleck are good friends, having shared an Oscar for their Good Will Hunting script. Affleck is also signed to be Batman in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel and is set to direct Warner Bros.’ Live By Night.
Damon will next be seen in George Clooney’s The Monuments Men and stars in Christopher Nolan’s next film, Interstellar.
The two actors are also working on a Whitey Bulger movie for Warner Bros., but the current status of that project is unknown.
