Black Friday keeps gobbling up more of the holiday weekend as several stores announced that they would be open at some point during Thanksgiving.

Target will open to shoppers at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, New York Daily News reports. The Minneapolis-based discount store was open, starting at 9 p.m. last year.

Target will then remain open through Black Friday until 11 p.m. as the store looks to cash in on the beginning of the holiday season. Normally stores don't open until 6 a.m. on Friday, but the trend over the past few years is to open earlier and earlier to entice more customers to shop.

The holiday shopping season is also a little shorter this years as Thanksgiving falls a week later than normal. The National Retail Federation has estimated that this holiday season could bring in $602.1 billion, an increase of 3.9 percent over the previous year.

Other stores getting in on the early openings included Toys R Us, Macy's, J.C. Penny and Staples, according to Los Angeles Times. Toys R Us will open its doors at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving and remain open until 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

The electronics retailer, Best Buy, announced that most of its stores would open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Kmart is trying to outdo everyone by opening up at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving and run for 41 hours.
