A new video for the iconic Bob Dylan song “Like a Rolling Stone” was released today, and it’s not just a clip of Dylan singing the 1965 song. Instead, it is an interactive video that looks like a television with different channels. Each one features TV personalities mouthing to the song’s lyrics and another station has a young Dylan performing.
Mashable reports that the video has 16 channels so far and more will be added soon. The channels feature reality shows like Pawn Stars, ESPN’s Sports Center and even The Price Is Right. Others show news broadcasts and home shopping programs. But no matter what the people are seen doing, they are all lip-synched to the lyrics.
“I'm using the medium of television to look back right at us — you're flipping yourself to death with switching channels [in real life],” director Vania Heymann explained to Mashable. Interlude CEO Yoni Bloch added that it’s impossible to see everything since “you'll always miss something because you can't watch everything at the same time.”
The video was produced by Pulse Films and Walter Pictures with Interlude. It was also posted on Dylan’s official site.
Dylan recently released a complete box set featuring all of his studio albums, plus rare material. His most recent album is last year’s Tempest.
