Sunday, November 10 was what is known as Remembrance Day in Great Britain. Remembrance Day is comparable to Veteran’s Day in the United States. It is a day to remember the fallen soldiers, and Brad Pitt’s new World War II film caused uproar by filming in the early morning hours in an English village.
Brad Pitt is filming a new movie titled Fury in England. According to The Daily Mirror, Brad Pitt, and the film’s head honchos, was asked by nearby villages to stop filming for the British holiday, but the production continued to film scenes involving actors dressed as Nazi SS officers. This upset not only the villagers but also actors dressed as the Nazi soldiers. One of the actors said “This was grotesquely disrespectful and offensive. I can’t believe I wore an SS uniform on Remembrance Sunday.” The Guardian is also reporting that Shadow Defence Minister, Kevan Jones, called the act “outrageous”.
This is not Brad Pitt’s first movie about World War II. He previously starred in the film Inglorious Bastards in 2009.
