The fast food restaurant Burger King is in trouble with enraged customers after a racist remark was placed on a billboard on the location of one of its franchises.
CNN reported that Burger King apologized when a picture of a billboard in Ephrata, Wash., went viral. The billboard said, “Now hiring must be Mexican.”
Burger King took to Facebook apologizing for the incident stating that, the incident took place over the summer; the billboard was tampered with by a disgruntled worker without permission.
The fast food restaurant contacted Latina with a statement saying that they have a zero tolerance policy for offensive language.
“… BKC has a long history of dedication to diversity and inclusion…In addition, the franchise that owns and operates this BURGER KING restaurant has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind.”
The sign appeared on the site of a radio station based in Washington called KFFM 1073 where a poll was taken of how many people found the billboard offensive, majority of voters did.
The employee responsible for the offensive remark was terminated by the franchise.
