Chris Reed is an artist that focuses on translating his inspiration and refreshing lyrics through playing a guitar and a ukulele on his latest album, Sweet Destiny. Reed creates a sound that is influenced by both reggae and pop.
Sweet Destiny shows the passion that Reed has for music and lets fans connect with Reed in a laid-back manner. The music is not aggressive, just easy listening with very interesting and honest lyrics, along with a vocal performance that is smooth and leaves the listener with a good feeling.
Reed has a very interesting vocal style; it sounds like a cross between pop and rock. Reed’s sound is amplified when the back up vocalists come in and fill out his sound. “Weight of the World,” is a strong example of this as the chorus really stands out because of it’s full sound, bringing the song to a new level.
The most standout part of this album is when Reed plays his ukulele. It adds another element to the performance and evokes a great reaction. The ukulele and soothing vocals make the listener relax. The lyrics off of Sweet Destiny are also very catchy and original.
This album is refreshing and adds a different element into an already crowded pop/rock music scene. Stand-out tracks on the album include, “Weight of the World,” “Hope,” and “Legacy.”
