A woman was stopped by Canadian border patrol Thursday when the three pumpkins she had in her bag were found to be stuffed full of cocaine.
The woman’s luggage was being routinely checked early Thursday morning upon her arrival in Montreal when border agents found something wrong with the pumpkins in her bag, reports CNN.
“The pumpkins seemed to be heavier than they should be, so the agent sent them to the X-ray machine,” Canada Border Services Agency spokesperson Jacqueline Roby said in a statement, according to the Montreal Gazette.
When the pumpkins went through the X-ray machine, the agents found an odd, solid substance inside of them, so they decided to open them up and see what it was. What they got was a Halloween surprise.
“Scary substances were found inside,” Roby added in her statement.
The substances found inside were several bags of cocaine. The three pumpkins contained a total of 2 kilograms of cocaine, which is a whopping 4.4 pounds.
The woman’s identity has not been released, and Roby was not able to say where the woman had been travelling from or whether she was a citizen of Canada or not.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
