The CW announced that the network is working on developing the drama The Painted Girls with CBS TV Studios.
The French drama is set in the 1880s, Deadline reports and is based upon Cathy Marie Buchanan's book.
The drama follows three sisters who are learning at the top ballet academy during the 1880s. One of the sisters becomes the focus of painter Edgar Degas during a background filled with poverty, crime, sex and a serial killer.
Geoffrey Nauffts has been tapped to write the script and will also co-executive produce. Nauffts is a Tony-nominated playwright. Pushing Daisies' Dan Jinks will also serve as executive producer.
The CW also announced on Tuesday that the network is looking to develop another DC Comics character, Hourman. Michael Caleo is penning the script and Warner Bros. TV is producing.
The show would be about a man who realizes his nightmares are actually premonitions. The hero decides to use his knowledge of future events to help others, while also hoping to impress his ex-wife and son.
