David O. Russell has been on an incredible tear, churning out The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle in under four years. But in case he decides to take a rest after American Hustle, he might still wind up releasing a fourth film soon. That would be Nailed, his long abandoned comedy with Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel. Seemingly out of the blue, the film earned an MPAA rating this week.

On Tuesday, RopeOfSilicon found a film titled Nailed on a new MPAA bulletin. The film is rated PG-13 for “sexual contact and language.” The MPAA then confirmed to the site that it is Russell’s film and the production company is Nailed Partners, LLC. However, the organization had no further information.

The story for Nailed features Biel as an uninsured waitress who gets shot in the head with a nail, notes IndieWire. She goes to Washington to fight for other victims of bizarre injuries, but a Congressman (Gyllenhaal) tries to take advantage of her fight. The blog Weirdland posted images of the film in April.

However, the scene where she is shot with the nail was never filmed thanks to the financiers, who backed off the project. It had been in the works since 2008 and Russell finally gave up in 2010, around the time The Fighter came out. A test screening of a really rough cut was held in 2011, but it was clear that the key scene with Biel still needed to be reshot.

There’s no word on when the film will be released or on what format. Considering the star wattage (James Marsden and Tracey Morgan also star) and Russell’s current status as one of Hollywood’s top directors, one would think someone would want to release it in some form.

Russell’s American Hustle hits theaters on Dec. 13.
