Jennifer Lawrence may wish that she could play Katniss Everdeen in a fifth Hunger Games film all she wants, but that would require another book from Suzanne Collins and that’s not going to happen.
While chatting with E! News to promote Catching Fire, the Oscar winner said that she hopes that she could keep playing Katniss, even after the series wraps up with the second part of Mockingjay.
“That would be kinda cool, wouldn't it?” co-star Josh Hutcherson asked.
“It would be so fun. This is the best group and we have so much fun,” Lawrence said. “I love doing these movies. I get really sad when I think that we're almost done.”
Elizabeth Banks also said that she wished collins would write another book. “We love these characters. I think people are really fascinated to see where their lives go,” she said.
While that may sound like music to studio Lionsgate’s ears, a rep for the author told TheWrap today that it’s not going to happen. “Another one? No, the books are done,” Jason Dravis of The Monteiro Rose Agency told the site.
Catching Fire hits theaters on Nov. 22 and will be followed by Lionsgate’s adaptation of Collins’ final book in the trilogy, Mockingjay. The studio has split it in half, so the first part will be out in 2014 and the final part in 2015. Lawrence and the rest of the cast should just relish the moments promoting the films and making them.
