If you're in New York - especially if you are with children - you must visit Discovery Times Square. It's a fun and fascinating way to learn about science, culture, art and history. This large building hosts exhibits on a temporary basis. The exhibits are always rotating out so you can visit often and never see the same thing twice.
On our most recent trip to DTS, they had three exhibits: Art of the Brick, Shipwreck!, and Body Worlds: Pulse. Our daughter wasn't too keen on seeing the inner workings of the human body so we skipped that particular exhibit.
Art of the Brick - despite its misleadingly boring name (who wants to look at bricks?) - was really cool. Perfect for all ages, award winning New York-based artist Nathan Sawaya has done some amazing stuff with LEGOs. Here he has recreated famous pieces of art, well known monuments and artifacts, and original pieces entirely with LEGO bricks. It's an incredible exhibit that the whole family can enjoy.
After Art of the Brick we headed over to the Shipwreck! exhibit. This was also a very interesting exhibit that shows the technology used by 21st Century treasure hunters. Here you can see more than 500 artifacts - including millions of dollars in gold and silver - treasure hunters and scientists have brought up from the ocean floor. I really enjoyed the Hurricane Machine - but don't go in there if you are worried about your hair getting messed up!
