The entertainment empire known to all as Disney has joined forces with the ubiquitous video streaming site Netflix in an epic new deal of which the world has never seen before. Netflix will be putting out new shows featuring characters from the Marvel comic book universe.
nytimes.com writes that Netflix has "acquired a package of four drama series and one mini-series – about 60 episodes – based on the Marvel characters of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage" and will be produced by the television studios of Marvel and ABC, which are both owned by the Walt Disney Company. Furthermore, deadline.com released the official press release from Disney and Netflix online and it states that these new programs will commence in accordance with Marvel's new theatrical releases in 2016. Furthermore, Netflix will also become the exclusive source of viewing titles from all of the subsidiaries of Walt Disney Studios, including "Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Disneynature and Lucasfilm".
