As the studio promised on Tuesday, Disney has released the first teaser for Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie as the villain from the 1959 classic animated film Sleeping Beauty.

The teaser lasts just a minute and 25 seconds and features voice over from Elle Fanning, who plays Princess Aurora. The princess is speaking to Maleficent, noting that she has been following her like a shadow her entire life. “I am not afraid,” Maleficent says to Aurora. “Then come out.”

“Then you’ll be afraid,” Maleficent says.

In the teaser, viewers also get a sneak peek at the visual style of the film, which should remind people of Alice In Wonderland. Of course it should, since the film is being directed by Robert Stromberg, who won an Oscar for his art direction on the Tim Burton film. It is Stromberg’s directorial debut.

Disney promised to release the teaser today after it released the film’s first poster on Tuesday. Clearly, Disney’s marketing gurus are making sure that moviegoers are well aware that Jolie is the main star of this movie.

Maleficent hits theaters on May 30, 2014.
