Emile Hirsch talked about how Walter Mitty screenwriter Steve Conrad got him interested in the John Belushi film.
As previously reported last week, Hirsch signed on to play Belushi for the currently untitled film. The shortlist for the role was Hirsch, Adam DeVine and Joaquin Phoenix.
The project will be also directed by Conrad. Belushi's widow Judy Pelushi Pisano will be co-producing the movie, while Dan Aykroyd will be executive producer. The movie will be based off of the book Belushi, which was written by Belushi Pisano and Tanner Colby.
Hirsch talked to The Hollywood Reporter about the film and said that he "was kind of surprised when I first heard about it."
The Into the Wild actor continued, "But I sat down with Steve Conrad, the writer-director, and he just kind of has a vision for it and was just really enthusiastic about and he sold me and got me really, really excited about it."
Hirsch admitted he isn't sure of details yet. "It's so early right now. I don't know what it'll be like or what it will yield."
