Four Iranian musicians have been involved in a killing in Brooklyn, New York this morning.

Two members of the band called Yellow Dogs, brothers Soroush Farazmand and Arash Farazmand, the guitarist and drummer of the band respectively, were shot and killed by fellow musician Ali Akbar Mahammadi Rafie.

Rafie later took his own life with the same gun, a rifle, used to murder the brothers.

Another musician was also shot and killed by Rafie. Ali Eskandarian, another musician, also from Iran, was also killed, reported LA Times.

Two of those killed were in the U.S. due to political asylum.

Though there were two other members of Yellow Dog besides the Farazmand brothers, they were not around at the time of the shootings.

The cause of the murder-suicide is unknown for sure, though New York police have a few ideas as to the motivation of the deaths.

John McCarthy, the spokesman for the NYPD said that Rafie “was upset that he wasn’t in the band anymore” in a statement made to BBC.

Other investigators have said that they have suspicions as to whether there was an argument about money.
