Disney has had a very busy afternoon. After announcing a release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, the studio has also shifted release dates for Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland. There is very little known about the project, other than that it will star George Clooney, but it is a highly anticipated project as it will be Bird’s first film since the hit Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
According to the schedule at Box Office Mojo, the film is now set to open on May 22, 2015. That means that it will come a couple of weeks after Disney’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Other films opening around that time include Jurassic World and Independence Day 2.
It was previously set to open on Dec. 12, 2014.
The film was at one point known as 1952, but it was retitled Tomorrowland in January. It is being written by Damon Lindelof (Prometheus) and Entertainment Weekly’s Jeff Jensen. Clooney’s co-stars include Judy Greer and Hugh Laurie.
According to Slash Film, Disney’s official synopsis for the film only says that it centers on an optimistic teen and a jaded former boy-genius who team up to solve the mysteries of a place called ‘Tomorrowland.’
Back in January, Bird sent the following tweet as a tease:

Earlier, Disney said that Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
