HAIM release the video for their song “The Wire”, singing of heartbreak, and breaking hearts, the video shows each sister taking a turn dumping their stereotypically nerdy boyfriends.
Lead singer Danielle Haim, sitting quietly at an outdoor café waits to dump her boyfriend, who unfortunately is in the bathroom trying to work up the nerve to ask her to marry him. She sings I just know, I know, I know, I know/That you’re gonna be okay anyway and leaves him, crushed and heartbroken at the café table. The weepy, now ex-boyfriend, rifles through photos and letters, comically crying and wishing he could get her back. The other sisters follow suit, as Alana texts her boyfriend behind the bar that “it’s over,” while poor Este’s boyfriend finds out that she’s two-timing him. As the funny and appropriate over-acting boyfriend’s keep finding reminders of each girl, they finally band together to confront and take back their loves. The Haim sisters aren’t having it though, as they just shake their heads at the boys leaving them crying once more.
“The Wire” itself is a very catchy song with its low vocal styling and slow, infectious beat. The indie-rock band has been taking the industry by storm and just performed “The Wire”, along with “Don’t Save Me” on Saturday Night Live. They also just announced their upcoming world tour which will take them on the road through May 2014.
