Hana Kim embodies a soulful, singer-song writer on her latest album, Exodo. The album contains many soulful and rhythmic influences and frames Kim’s vocals in a way that highlights not only her voice but also her soul as an artist.
Kim had previously released two EP’s, 2010's "Until You Believe" and her live session, "Studio Sessions" in 2012. Now fans are able to get a full album from Kim and see how far she has progressed since 2010.
The opening track off of Exodo, “Like The King Does,” sets the tone for the entire album. Exodo has some clear soul, rock and pop influences. The instruments on Exodo feel smooth and pull the different musical styles together. Exodo as a whole album never feels rushed. Kim takes the time to develop the sound and keep the audience interested from beginning to end.
It is hard to not draw the comparison of Kim sounding like Norah Jones, but Kim does put her own unique flavor on her vocal delivery. Kim embraces a darker, more rock driven side with her vocals.
Stand out tracks on the album include, “Mexico,” “Call it Mine,” and “Ruins.”
