On Friday, a helicopter crashed into The Clutha Vaults pub in Glasgow, Scotland and at least eight people have died.

According to BBC News, in addition to the eight deaths, at least 32 people were injured and some might still be trapped inside the pub. A senior fire officer said they were taking a "methodical" approach to rescuing anyone trapped as the building is unsafe, but did note they had had been in contact with some still stuck inside.

When the helicopter crashed, it is being reported that nearly 120 people were inside the pub, but many have since been rescued.

The Los Angeles Times reports that officials said that though eight have been confirmed dead, they expect that count to rise.

Scotland Police Chief Constable Stephen House said, "A full and thorough investigation into what happened last night has already begin."

Witnesses say they heard the helicopter's engine sputter and die shortly before it crashed into the pub. The helicopter was carrying a pilot and two police officers at the time of the crash, all three died.

"No one had a clue what was going on. There was no loud noise. ... No one knew a helicopter crashed till people told you," Grace MacLean said to Sky News. "There was just a gradual coming down of the roof and some dust. It wasn't like an instantaneous bang and explosion."

Scottish Sun Editor Gordon Smart saw the crash from a nearby carpark and said, "Just to see the trajectory and speed of the helicopter's descent, it really was dramatic and terrifying. I'm absolutely amazed that anybody's walked away from it."
