A robber breaking into a Salt Lake City home experienced a turn of events when he injured himself on a window and received help from the people he was robbing.
The 20-year old suspect attempted to smash in a window of a house at around 6 a.m. Thursday in Salt Lake City. Things for the young man quickly went south when he apparently cut his arm severely on his way inside the house.
The three residents of the home woke up after hearing the noise of the shattering glass. What they heard next startled them even more.
"The guy just walked through here, walked through then entire living room and the hallway, screaming for help," resident Pablo Solorio told local station KSL.
Solorio entered his living room to find blood everywhere. He also found the young burglar bleeding profusely from one of his arms.
The 20-year-old had one of Solario’s game systems in his hand, claiming that he had only entered the house to escape from people who had been chasing him through the neighborhood. Even so, Solorio’s stepfather immediately helped the hysterical burglar into one of the home’s bathrooms and used a towel to try and stop the bleeding.
The residents then called 911.
In the process of breaking the window with his arm, the burglar suffered a deep wound, possibly even severing one of the arteries in his arm, reports The Salt Lake Tribune. He was originally listed as being in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital, but he was stabilized by Friday.
The name of the burglar has not been released because he is still in the hospital’s care.
