The 41st International Emmy Awards is set to give a special honor to J. J. Abrams.

The Associated Press reports that Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in Abrams' Star Trek films, is set to present the International Emmy Founders Award to Abrams on Monday nights gala, taking place at the Hilton New York.

"J.J. Abrams is probably the most interesting creative talent in the industry right now. He's a great writer, producer, director and an amazing creator," Bruce L. Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said. "He already at age 47 has a number of classic television shows like 'Felicity' and 'Lost' that have set a model for all kinds of shows that came afterward."

The special honor to Abrams will be the highlight of the awards ceremony, hosted by British comedian John Oliver. The awards honor excellence in television outside the United States. 36 nominees from 19 countries will compete for International Emmys in various categories.

Abrams is currently the executive producer of 3 series currently running, Revolution, Almost Human, and Person of Interest.

TheCelebrityCafe reported last month that Abrams will work with Lawrence Kasdan on the new Star Wars: Episode VII script, replacing Michael Arndt. Cast announcements have not yet been released.

Disney and Lucasfilm will start production of Star Wars Spring 2014 for a 2015 release.
