John Oliver, one of the hilarious reporters on The Daily Show, has decided to leave that show for greener pastures. He is leaving to receive his own show on HBO.

John Oliver took over the hosting duties on The Daily Show, which airs on Comedy Central, over this summer while Jon Stewart was off filming a movie. According to USA Today, Michael Lombardo, HBO programming president, said that the way that Oliver handled himself during that time period is one of the main reasons that he was given a talk show on the network. The New York Daily News reports that John Oliver’s talk show will air on Sunday nights and will be a “satirical look at current events for the week.”

John Oliver may be best known for his work on The Daily Show, but he has also appeared on the TV show Community as well as in a few Hollywood movies. He has also had his own comedy specials.
