Justin Bieber has gotten himself all over the tabloids lately while he was in Brazil. He may have just landed in Argentina but the 19-year-old pop sensation just got charged for vandalism after spray-painting graffiti in Brazil 3 days ago.
While Bieber was in town to perform, he got himself into some trouble. US Magazine reports that on Tuesday Nov. 5, police received a complaint from bystanders that Bieber and his friends were spray painting the wall of the former Hotel Nacional in Rio de Janeiro. By the time authorities arrived at the scene, Bieber had already left with his friends.
In Brazil, drawing or writing on building is considered an offense and is due for either a fine or up to one year behind bars. So when this incident happened, it was highly publicized in Brazil.
Rio De Janeiro police told http://www.eonline.com/news/479099/justin-bieber-officially-charged-with-vandalism-after-spray-painting-graffiti-in-brazil/>E! News that following a 3 day testimony and hearing from everyone involved, including photographers, police officers, and Bieber’s security, he was officially charged with vandalism.
Lucky for him, he will only have to pay a fine rather than get arrested. The cost of the fine is yet to be determined because judges need to examine all the evidence first.
According to Bieber’s people, he was actually given permission by Rio’s city hall to spray paint graffiti on another wall but because he didn’t feel safe in that area, he chose the wrong wall which has now turned out to be illegal and will cost him possibly a large amount of money.
The show must go on and Bieber will be soon be performing in Cordoba, Argentina then in Bueno Aires this weekend.
