The power ballad “Unconditionally” is the second single from Katy Perry’s album Prism which she released today along with a video.
Perry’s powerful vocals really drive the song all the way through, speaking of loving someone unconditionally and truly. Surrounded by dancers in period dress dancing outside on a snowy evening while Perry is dressed in white, and switching to a large ballroom, while Perry sings dressed in black. At one point she is surrounded by soft flames and a bed burns as the dancers stare in the ballroom. During the last chorus, in the snow, stops a moving car, and is surrounded by debris, while the ballroom-Perry is surrounded by a whirlwind of flowers.
MTV premiered the video on November 19 followed by an interview with Perry about the video. She stated “Unconditionally” was a departure from her previous videos, not having a narrative or big storyline. "It's mostly just a beautiful video that is supposed to evoke this power of love," the singer said.
Perry sang “Unconditionally” at the EMA’s and is expected to sing the song as she opens the American Music Awards on November 24 on ABC.
