Having really sparked and breaking through the mold on her last album 100 Proof, Kellie Pickler’s new album The Woman I Am keeps on the same path and may just prove to be her best album to date.

The Woman I Am really showcases the growth and maturity of Kellie Pickler as an artist and a songwriter. Kicking up those country boots, “Little Bit Gypsy” starts off the album with Pickler’s vocals floating effortlessly. The swampy, tongue-in-cheek “Ring For Sale” about selling back the engagement ring, ode to her feisty grandmother “Selma Drye”, and country rockin’ “Bonnie and Clyde”, are all very reminiscent of the fun in Dixie Chick’s “Goodbye Earl”. The ballad and title track “The Woman I Am” really showcases how much Pickler has grown as an artist; very clean and precise vocals, with all the care and vulnerability you’d want and expect.

“No Cure For Crazy”, with its stomp-feel, will have everyone lining up on the dance floor and singing the I’m two queens short of a full deck/Good luck trying to save me/There ain’t no cure, no cure for crazy baby. The first single and closer “Someone, Somewhere Tonight”, originally done by Kenny Rodgers, accentuates the country feel, where Pickler at times channels Dolly’s southern trill in her voice.

Kellie Pickler has created a really solid album with The Woman I Am, and it picks up right where 100 Proof left off. Pickler’s trajectory as an artist will surely please every fan.
