Lady Gaga stripped down again for another music video, this time for a video for ARTPOP’s title track. In it, she’s seen at first wearing clothes, but then directors Inez & Vinoodh mix images of her nude with dirt.
“This album is a celebration: My pain exploding in electronic music,” she says at the beginning of the two-minute, 38-second video, notes TheWrap. “It’s heavy, but after I listen to it, I feel happy again, I feel lighter.”
After that, she appears fully clothed, only to strip down for the next shot of her covered only in dirt. But then, there are images of her dancing in her underwear and in other bizarre outfits. She’s also seen baring fake teeth and sitting on computer boards.
Of course, Gaga also went completely nude (no dirt this time) for performance artist Marina Abramovic.
The video was posted on Wednesday, the same day that Billboard announced that ARTPOP debuted at No. 1. Despite that ranking, it only sold 258,000 copies, far below the 1.1 million copies Born This Way sold. It was even less than Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP2, which started with 792,000 copies sold last week.
Gaga also performed on Saturday Night Live this weekend and appeared in several sketches. You can check out our recap here.
