Actress Lake Bell has agreed to star in an indie production with Simon Pegg called Man Up. The film will be directed by British director Ben Palmer, who is best known for The Inbetweeners.
Bell, who just wrote, directed and starred in In A World..., will play a single woman who is on her way to her parents’ anniversary party. On the way, a man mistakes her for his blind date and he turns out to be her dream man. According to Deadline, the romantic comedy was penned by Tess Morris and was on the 2011 Brit List, the U.K. version of Hollywood’s Black List.
Variety reports that Pegg’s Big Talk Productions will produce with StudioCanal. Pegg will co-produce with Palmer. Filming starts in January.
Bell, who starred in the Adult Swim comedy Childrens Hospital, just made Disney’s The Million Dollar Arm with Jon Hamm, which will be released next year. She is now working on the Owen Wilson comedy The Coup.
As for Pegg, he just starred in Star Trek Into Darkness and Edgar Wright’s The World’s End. He has several films in the works, including Kill Me Three Times.
