After endlessly being teased with mini trailers of Lana Del Rey’s new project, Tropico and after being so impatient to find out when, where and how it will be released, we have finally found out all we need to know about it today.
First the full-length teaser has been released; revealing that the story is actually not what we exactly thought it would be about, in the first two short teasers. The first mini teaser shows us Lana Del Rey as a vision in midst of a softly-colored haze asking for forgiveness of her sins, repeatedly saying: “Dear John forgive us our sins…” The second teaser shows us Del Rey and model Shaun Ross in heaven admiringly observing Jesus preaching, while Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley are singing in the background.
The full-length trailer that was released today shows us that this is a story of a couple Del Rey and Ross, who are a part of a notorious underground scene where everything goes. Del Rey is a stripper working at the gentlemen’s club and her, as well as Ross appear to be a part of the gang. The video is also packed with symbolism and Biblical themes. So we see Del Rey eating an apple and holding a snake close to her face. The video ends with the version of Del Rey that we have seen in the first short teaser.
According to the press release on Pigeons & Planes,"Tropico is an epic tale based on the biblical story of sin and redemption..."
The film was directed by Anthony Mandler and will be released on December 5. through VEVO!
