Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said that the company is contemplating the possibility of Hunger Games themed amusement parks.
Variety reports that Feltheimer noted the possibility while on a conference call with analysts.
Lionsgate was approached over the idea of opening theme parks in two territories based off its lucrative franchise. Feltheimer said the company was mulling over the option, but wouldn't elaborate further.
The conference call focused on the studio's quarterly earnings and the CEO was asked about which part of The Hunger Games merchandising was doing well. Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Rob Friedman has said that the studio had been happy with "Capital Couture" clothing sales.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Feltheimer said of the theme parks idea: "We are excited about those opportunities and are pursuing them."
The CEO also talked about promoting Catching Fire overseas. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth "will... take a break to promote our worldwide rollout of Catching Fire premieres, beginning in London this coming Monday." The stars are currently on set for the two-part Mockingjay film.
"We are confident that we have positioned Catching Fire as a global phenomenon to continue the growth of the franchise," Feltheimer said of the studios hope that the sequel will outdo the first film at the box office.
