Even though Robin Williams has returned to television with CBS’ The Crazy Ones, that doesn’t mean that the Oscar winning comic is completely abandoning film. The actor recently filmed a movie in Brooklyn called The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, which has been acquired by Lionsgate.
The film was written by Daniel Taplitz and centers on a man (Williams) who has just been told that he only has 90 minutes left to live, reports The Hollywood Reporter. His doctor, played by Mila Kunis, gave him the bad news and, after their appointment, he decides to run around Brooklyn to make things right with everyone he’s ever known.
It was directed by Phil Alden Robinson and filmed last fall. Melissa Leo, Peter Dinklage, and Hamish Linklater also star.
According to Deadline, the film was produced by Landscape Entertainment’s Bob Cooper & Tyler Mitchell and Daniel J. Walker of Force Majeure. The financiers were MICA Entertainment and Vedette Finance.
Lionsgate is looking to release the film in theaters and Video On Demand the same day. However, a date was not announced.
Williams currently stars on the CBS comedy The Crazy Ones with Sarah Michelle Gellar. He also appeared in Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
