Lorde has made a huge debut into the music industry with her hit, “Royals.” Now the 17-year-old is taking on a music classic for the upcoming, Catching Fire soundtrack.
According to USA Today, Lorde covered “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” which was originally performed by Tears for Fears.
This cover of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” is haunting, dark and dramatic. Lorde is known for her simple songs that highlight her vocal range but this song adds a few layers of dynamics that make the song feel more cinematic. This cover of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” feels like it was written and produced just for this film, not a cover of an original classic.
Lorde even received a stamp of approval from Curt Smith, from Tears for Fears. Smith spoke to MTV saying that he thought the cover was absolutely amazing and that he loved her music.
Other artists that are set to be featured on the Catching Fire include, Christina Aguilera, Of Monsters and Men, Coldplay and The National.
Catching Fire is set to hit theaters Nov. 22nd.
