Marvel Comics announced that they would be adding new characters to their comic book universe. Marvel Comics will be introducing a new Muslim super heroine, which will be a revamped Ms. Marvel.
NY Daily News reported that Ms. Marvel will have the secret identity of being a Pakistani-American teenager from Jersey City. Sixteen-year-old Kamala Khan has been imagined and created by G. Willow Wilson.
Reuters added that Sana Amanat, the series editor, commented on the new character saying that it is not about being Muslim or American, it is about a young woman who is finding herself and exploring these amazing things that are happening to her.
Sana Amanat, has worked on Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men comic books.
Ms. Marvel will debut in January’s “All-New Marvel NOW! Point One Comic Book.” After that debut, Ms. Marvel will be given her own series a month later.
No word yet on when this character could translate to the big screen or television screen.
