Tickets for Monty Python's stage show reunion lasted all of 43 seconds after becoming available. The demand was so great that four additional dates have been added.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the members of the troupe were surprised with how quick their July date at the O2 Arena sold out.

"This pretty much took us by surprise, so we are talking about adding more shows. I apologize if you didn't get seats. We're working on it," Eric Idle tweeted.

According to CNN tickets for the original show went for as little as $51 on up to $171. Some tickets were immediately listed on the auction site Ebay for around $1,212.

So additional dates were added by the PR firm in charge of the event for July 2-5.

As previously reported, last Thursday, the five surviving members of the Monty Python comedy troupe announced that it would be reuniting for the first time in decades.

They said the show would feature "a modern, topical, Pythonesque twist" on their famous sketches. John Cleese did speak up that he was a little worried about performing them again for the first time in decades. "The main [risk] is that the audience knows the script better than we do."
