Jonathan Jackson plays bad-boy rock star Avery Barkley on the hit TV show Nashville which apparently has paid off in landing a record deal with Loud & Proud Records.
According to Billboard the TV spot solidified his deal, although “Nashville” wasn’t his first music gig. With his brother Richard (drums) and bassist Daniel Sweatt, Jackson fronts the rock act Enation, which has been in commission since 2002.
The deal with Loud & Proud puts Jackson in a direct relationship with label head Tom Lipsky, who told Billboard he's incredibly excited for the opportunity to work with the actor and his band, recounting their first meeting. Lipsky stated that he found Jackson “an absolute, unequivocal rock star," after he and his band played a 45 minute showcase for Lipsky and his team.
Zap2it jokingly posed the question whether Jackson would screw things up like his Nashville character Avery did. Jackson is actually pretty humble and laid back when it comes to landing his record deal. "The last however many years of my life, I've started to get to the place of not having expectations about how things are supposed to turn out and really just try to live day to day," Jackson says.
No release date has been set although Jackson has stated that he has many songs to choose from already having been recording and demoing his own music.
