Natalie Portman attended a red carpet screening for Thor: The Dark World in Manhattan Wednesday and spoke about her plans to direct a film herself and said she hopes to produce documentaries.

This summer, it was reported that Portman will be directing a film based on A Tale of Love and Darkness, based on Amos Oz’s autobiography. She received a grant from the Jerusalem Film Fund and is set to make it in Jerusalem, where she was born.

During Wednesday’s event, Portman told the media at the event, sponsored by the Cinema Society and Dior Beauty, that she is working on her directorial debut, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The Black Swan actress also said that she’s still producing films under her Handsomecharlie Films and hopes to focus on documentaries. “We have a couple of documentaries going right now, one of which is Eating Animals, which I'm really excited about, the documentary adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's book,” she said.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Portman also chatted about her Thor character, scientist Jane Foster, who has a lot of actions “that made sense” in the new movie. She also said she had to use more imagination this time, since several scenes were filmed in front of blue screen.

Portman’s next films include two Terrence Malick films and Jane Got A Gun. Thor 2 hits theaters on Friday.
