Although the stigma against interracial couples has diminished considerably in the American populace, there seems to be an unspoken taboo between the espousing of of white men and black women in power.
USA Today quotes William Cohen, the former U.S Secretary of Defense (who is married to a black woman), "It [interracial marriage] reflects the American values of embracing different races, ethnicities, religions. I think it's just a great symbol," Blasio is revolutionizing the age of accepted racism, despite the doubts McCray has expressed in regards to jeopardizing the livelihood of his term.
