Ryan Tedder, the frontman for the band OneRepublic, has been tapped by NBC to write original songs for the three finalists on The Voice. He will also be the show’s first ever in-house producer.

Tedder will also be an adviser for the three finalists and they’ll perform his songs on the Dec. 17 finale. NBC said in a statement that each song will be written with the singers in mind, so he’ll highlight their strengths. The winner’s single will be released on iTunes right after the episode airs.

“Ryan is a brilliant songwriter and on the forefront of today’s music scene. His contributions to The Voice will be invaluable in both his work with our artists and in creating a song that will capture the essence of our show,” Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment, said in the announcement.

As Billboard notes, Tedder has experience working with artists outside of OneRepublic. He’s produced Adele, Beyonce, Leona Lewis, Voice coach Adam Levine’s band Maroon 5 and Carrie Underwood. His group’s single “Counting Stars” has become a big hit, reaching No. 6 on the Hot 100 chart this week. Their album, Native, hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
