Paul Simon and Sting will act as double-headliners for a tour together, and will also share the stage for a few duets. The North American tour will be called "Paul Simon and Sting: On Stage Together"

The pairing may not be as random as you think; The New York Times reported the two used to live in the same building in Manhattan. In a recent telephone conversation Sting stated, “For 20 years, this guy would be borrowing things all the time,” in a tone of mocking complaint. “Then I heard he was a songwriter.” Mr. Simon responded with similar facetiousness, “As soon as he got a chance, he moved up, hierarchically, into more elite buildings.”

Rolling Stone reported the pair previously performed together at a benefit in May for the Robin Hood Foundation. There, they performed acoustic versions of the Simon and Garfunkel song "The Boxer" and Sting's "Fields of Gold." About that appearance, Simon told the Times, "After we finished it, we both looked at each other and said, 'Wow. That's pretty interesting.'"

The tour will last for 18 dates from February 8th through March 16th, including a March 4th appearance at New York's Madison Square Garden, with the possibility of more dates to come.
