During the United Nations Climate Change Conference one man has made a change in speaking out about global warming.

Naderev “Yeb” Saño the lead negotiator for the Philippines was over taken by sobs when a typhoon hit his country last year killing more than 1,000 people. Saño's emotional speech was given a standing ovation by the other delegates in attendance.

Now Saño is back at a Climate Change Conference in Warsaw, Poland and the situation facing his people is not better but worse.

The Philippines was hit earlier this month by a super typhoon called Haiyan that has left over 5,000 people dead according to CNN and the number continues to grow.

On Nov. 11, the Climate Change Commissioner for the Philippines pleaded with the UN to not just talk but to take action. He has family in the Philippines that was affected by the typhoon noted Democracy Now! . He found out that his brother, AG, was alive through news coverage on television and was able to contact him. AG told him that he had not eaten, but was helping with the relief efforts.

“…In the last two days, he has been gathering bodies of the dead with his own two hands. He is hungry and weary as food supplies find it difficult to arrive in the hardest hit areas.”

Democracy Now! also reported that Saño has decided to fast until a resolution has been made concerning climate change. “I will continue to fast until we see a meaningful outcome here in Warsaw.”

The independent news program caught up with him on Nov. 19, whom was on his ninth day of fasting. Saño talked about the level of support he has received from around the world concerning his decision to fast and for the Philippines to be helped.

Saño is twitting about the conference and his fasting on his Twitter page:
