The Pink Star, a rosy colored diamond measuring over an inch wide, was recently sold for a record-setting bid of $83 million in Geneva, Sweden.

The diamond was sold to Isaac Wolf, a famous gem cutter from New York. Wolf, upon owning the massive rock, renamed the stone to The Pink Dream.

The Pink Star is the world’s largest cut diamond, according to Business Insider. Before the auction, the diamond was predicted to sell for $64 million. The gem ending up overshooting these predictions by a full $10 million.

Though the actual price of the gem was for $74 million, the additional $9 million was part of the commision for the auctioneering company, Soethby’s.

According to BBC and the auctioneer, David Bennett, the diamond was mined by the African De Beers company in 1999, though it is not clear which country the diamond specifically came from.

The Pink Star ranks in at over 59 carats, double the size of the closest diamond in its class. Before it was cut and polished, a process that took two full years, the diamond was a whopping 132 carats.
