The lawyers prosecuting the three accused in the Bolshoi acid attack are looking to have Pavel Dmitrichenko sent to Russian labor camps for nine years.
The Los Angeles Times reports that prosecutors are angling for a nine year labor camp sentence for Dmitrichenko for his involvement in the acid attack on Bolshoi artistic director Sergei Filin. He has been accused of ordering the attack on the director.
Yury Zarutsky, who actually carried out the attack, is looking at a slightly longer stretch at 10 years. Andre Lipatov, the reported driver for Zarutsky, might serve six years in prison.
Since Filin had acid thrown in his face, the 43-year-old director has had over 20 operations done to try and improve his eyesight. He testified earlier in the case wearing dark glasses, but quickly left as he still requires treatment on his eyes.
According to The Associated Press, a verdict in the acid throwing case is scheduled for Dec. 3. On Friday, Dmitrichenko's lawyers provided their closing statements as the end of the case nears.
The maximum sentence the former Bolshoi dancer could be given is 12 years for the charge levied against him.
